April 04, 2009 - 09:52 PM Kevin Clover - Just installed Ubuntu on one of my computers. Interesting to see how well it runs on a P-III 800MHz. I love Ubuntu Linux for desktop and laptop use, it's based on Debian GNU/Linux with some great additions to polish it up. Ubuntu worked very well on my Pentium III IBM Thinkpad with 384MB of memory, which is similar performance-wise to your machine. Presently I run Ubuntu on my Xeon workstation and Toshiba Satellite laptop. I still prefer straight Debian for my .com server near the ceiling on top the kitchen cabinet.
